To love, to learn, to live... to leave a legacy

Smannell & Enham - Church of England (Aided) Primary School

Our church – Christ Church, Smannell

Our spiritual home is the beautiful parish church of Christ Church, Smannell, which we regularly visit during the year including for the celebration of major Christian festivals.

We meet together every day for an act of collective worship, either as a whole school or in smaller class or Key Stage groups.  Our worship is regularly lead by members of the Pastrow Family of Churches team.  The children look forward to their visits and are keen to ask questions and share their thoughts.

We also have other visitors join us for worship who are linked to the wider church in Andover.

Celebrations in our community

The school and the church work closely together to provide special services in Christ Church for the parents and wider community at Easter, Harvest, Remembrance and Christmas.  At the end of the academic year, we also celebrate the achievements and contribution of the Year 6 Leavers’ during their learning journey with us.  Pupils play a key role leading the worship in these services through their singing, music, drama, readings and prayers.

Year 6 – leaving the church

As part of the Diocese of Winchester, we have links with Winchester Cathedral where, in the Summer, Year 6 children visit for the day, taking part in a Church School Leavers’ service in the afternoon.

The significance of this service is remembered every day in school as Year 6 are given a candle to take back to school with them and here at Smannell, we use this candle to light each worship and welcome the day, remember our friends who have moved on and remind us that Jesus is the light of our world.
